They’re trying to get me Trying to start a fight But nothing they call me Can stop me feeling alright Hole in my roof Couple of greys showing through But I’ve got a feeling You know what I’m going through Don’t look down no-one to protect you Left behind but I won’t forget you All these things we worry about It’s just a waste of time When I’m riding the wave There’s no-one to stop me Sun’s shining today Just here in my car When the rain begins to start I open my heart and the beach doesn’t seem so far Rain on my window Beach in heart Pina coladas And convertible cars Can’t slow down cuz we’re on the highway Too late now, we’re doing it my way All these things we worry about It’s just a waste of time When I’m riding the wave There’s no-one to stop me Sun’s shining today Just here in my car When the rain begins to start I open my heart and the beach doesn’t seem so far

Heard you listening to those songs again The ones that make you cry Been watching those old movies You’ve seen a thousand times When I ask if you’ve been crying You say It’s just something in your eye But I’m not too young to notice I know what’s on your mind Cuz it’s on mine, It’s on mine (Baby let’s start over) (Baby let’s start over) (Baby let’s start over) Baby let’s start over, over, over I saw the note there on the paper That said to give you a call If I didn’t know any better I’d say the writing’s on the wall But I know down deep inside We’ve got something bigger than pride Got a feeling that’s just right To make it through the night That’s alright, that’s aright (Baby let’s start over) Oooh (Baby let’s start over) Over tonight (Baby let’s start over) There’s no shame in starting over baby Baby let’s start over, over, over (Ah let’s start over) Come on baby (Ah think it over) (Ah let me show you Baby, baby let’s start over)

Born a fool, blind as a bat Dropped out of school, it’s as simple as that Kicked around, heart on my sleeve But I still believe Daddy’s girl, she knows what she wants Bright lights and fine restaurants Flashed a smile, smoking a camel I’m just a fish in a barrel I can’t explain why I fall for their games It’s just myself to blame every time I put my heart on the line Falling in love all over again (Kinda like it, kinda like it) I should call it off flat but I couldn’t do that (Kinda like it) Now I’m falling in love again (Kinda like it, kinda like it) Little angel, he’s got his doubts He’s in my ear as I’m taking her out Little devil, cheering me on Cuz he knows she’s the one I can’t explain why I fall for their games It’s just myself to blame every time I put my heart on the line, on the line Falling in love all over again (Kinda like it, kinda like it) I should call it off flat but I couldn’t do that (Kinda like it) Now I’m falling in love again Every time, every time I put my heart on the line Falling in love all over again Call it off flat but I couldn’t do that Falling in love all over again Call it off flat but I couldn’t do that Falling, falling Calling, calling Falling, falling Calling, calling

How could I forget those nights? How could I forget your heart? Memories burned in my mind Blocking out all those lies Looking for higher highs Searching for love that’s in front of our eyes I never knew, never knew baby Finding you would make me go crazy Then you whispered in my ear It’s never too late to start I thought it was over I thought that my time was running out Needed your love to knock me out Now that I’m older I can’t let our love just fall apart I’m taking it to the heart Cuz it’s never too late to start I’m digging down deep inside Breaking down all my walls Fighting the fires that are burning behind Nothing in this life’s fair But seeing your standing there Opened my eyes to the life I could find Down and out, shoulders are aching Full of doubt, hearts have been breaking Then you whispered in my ear It’s never too late to start I thought it was over I thought that my time was running out Needed your love to knock me out Now that I’m older I can’t let our love just fall apart I’m taking it to the heart Cuz it’s never too late Never thought that I’d get over all the pain Driving faster on the highway in the rain I’m a loser if I think that I Can fight it on my own again tonight See the light Make it right I never knew, never knew baby Finding you would make me go crazy Then you whispered in my ear It’s never too late I thought it was over I was just wasting all my time But you said I was doing fine It’s getting me nowhere Kicking my dreams on down the line The future is yours and mine I thought it was over I thought that my time was running out Needed your love to knock me out Now that I’m older I can’t let our love just fall apart I’m taking it to the heart

Lay You Down 03:38
Every time that I touch you It feels like the first time Too busy losing your head You should be losing your mind But now that I’m thinking Let’s take it back to the start When I just used to lay you down, baby Lay you down, girl I know how you’re feeling I can see it in your eyes But I don’t need a reason To make it alright I can feel your heart beating Because now is the time I just want to lay you down, baby Lay you down, girl Lay you down, baby We can’t do it on our own I just want to lay you down baby Do you remember? It’s been way too long We can’t do it on our own I’m just a boy You’re just a girl And we know how to love I’m sure you remember, baby When I just used to… Lay you down, baby Lay you down, girl Lay you down, baby We can’t do it on our own I just used to lay you down, baby I’m sure you remember It’s been way too long We can’t do it on our own…

Need You Now 04:54
I’m not a spark that’s burning out But I’m not a dying flame I know sometimes you start to doubt Whether you feel the same But I know without a doubt You’re the one thing I can’t do without I need you now To come on home girl I’m talking ‘bout The way it was before I need you now I need you to come on home I need you now Can’t go on much more Some people pray they’ll work it out But I don’t believe that it’s true Some people like to mess around But I only believe in you Cuz I know without a doubt You’re the one thing I can’t do without I need you now To come on home girl I’m talking ‘bout The way it was before I need you now I need you to come on home I need you now Can’t go on much more This game is hard enough without backing our love against the wall I can’t forgive myself if I just let you walk out of the door

Bye Bye Baby 03:46
I don’t know you the way I should Another girl might do me some good I never thought, I never knew Don’t read the signs like I used to do Now I’m thinking, now I’m thinking That I need a change Bye bye baby, this time it’s for real Don’t cry cry baby cuz I need a love I can feel I don’t know why I’m wasting my time I knew tonight I’d made up my mind Don’t see the light behind your eyes Don’t even care what’s behind your lies Now I’m thinking, now I’m thinking That I need a change Bye bye baby, this time it’s for real Don’t cry cry baby cuz I need a love I can feel

The Fool 04:09
Driving down that lonely road You made for yourself Playing a game that nobody ever wins Dancers they’ll come and go Servers smile and pour the Joe But tell me are you happy now, That your old lady’s crying now? You’re a fool You’re a fool You’re a fool to break her heart You’re a fool You’re a fool And your whole world’s torn apart You’re a fool And you’re tearing yourself apart Spending time with someone else Sounded so right Hiding your feelings away from her every night Chances don’t come again Now you’re wishing you were more than friends But tell me are you happy now, She’s someone else’s baby now? You’re a fool You’re a fool You’re a fool to break her heart You’re a fool You’re a fool And your whole world’s torn apart You’re a fool And you’re tearing yourself apart When you hold her like that Can’t control her like that Should’ve known about that You don’t own her like that When you hold her in your arms You’re a fool, and you’re tearing yourself apart You’re a fool You’re a fool You’re a fool to break her heart You’re a fool You’re a fool And your whole world’s torn apart

about

“I wanted to make a record that would fit in between the Eagles and Michael McDonald. Those 70s and 80s records that had all the top LA guys are the favourites in my vinyl collection so I knew if I wanted to listen to it, others would too. We had so much fun making it, playing in different studios, taking our time, experimenting with arrangements and stuff. I listen to it and smile. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.” - Adam

about

Miles London, UK

Miles is the solo project of Adam Amer. Music made for the car stereo - top down, sun shining. Created in London over two years, ‘Riding the Wave’ is a love letter to the golden era of soft-rock. With soaring harmonies, super-tight horns and smooth chord changes, Adam called on the best players in London to create an album that sounds like it was stolen from your dad’s record collection. ... more
